Abstract (English)
Throughout history people had different reactions to the injustices and inequalities they had endured. In pre-modern era these reactions occurred as rebellions and uprisings, whereas in modern era the reactions evolved into class-based organized movements. As a consequence of economic and social inequalities, social movements had a great impact on 20. century. In the second half of 20. century, social movements had a drastic change and was separated from traditional class-based movements to be identified as new social movements. These new movements, whose participants had various social backgrounds, were different from traditional social movements in their actions and topics. Globalization has spread new information technologies all over the world and that allowed individuals to communicate instantly. The advantages of new information technologies has led social movements to have global effects. There have been demonstrations for similar issues worldwide and activists have established an effective communication network. This study aims to point out the similarities between new social movements that had a great impact in the beginning of 21. century and analyze its relation with new information technologies. Accordingly, It is stated in the article that the new social movements considered as a whole, differ from traditional social movements. At this point, its relationship with new communication technologies has been examined based on different examples of this phenomenon, and through different example its relation with new information technologies has been examined.
Abstract (Turkish)
Yaşanan adaletsizliklere, eşitsizliklere farklı toplumsal tepkiler gösterilmiştir. Modern öncesi dönemde çeşitli isyanlar, başkaldırılar şeklinde oluşan bu tepkiler modern dönemde sınıf temelli ve örgütlü bir hal almıştır. “Toplumsal hareketler” olarak kavramsallaştırılan bu olgu 20. yüzyılda yaşanan ekonomik ve toplumsal eşitsizliklere gösterilen toplu tepkilerde önemli bir yer tutmuştur. Bu yüzyılın ikinci yarısından itibaren toplumsal hareketler farklı bir boyut kazanmış, geleneksel sınıf temelli hareketlerden ayrılarak “yeni toplumsal hareketler” olarak adlandırılmıştır. Farklı toplumsal sınıflardan kitlelerin katılım gösterdiği bu yeni hareketler hem eylem şekilleri hem içerdiği konular bakımından geleneksel toplumsal hareketlerden ayrılmıştır. Küreselleşmeyle beraber yeni iletişim teknolojilerinin bütün dünyaya yayılması, insanların anlık ve hızlı iletişim kurmasına olanak sağlamış, yeni toplumsal hareketlerin küresel boyut kazanmasını sağlamıştır. Dünyanın birçok yerinde benzer sorunlara karşı gösteriler yapılmış ve eylemciler arasında etkili bir iletişim ağı kurulmuştur. Bu çalışmanın amacı 21. yüzyılın başlangıcına damgasını vuran yeni toplumsal hareketlerin ortak noktalarını ortaya koymak ve bu hareketlerin yeni iletişim teknolojileriyle ilişkisini incelemektir. Bu doğrultuda bir bütün olarak ele alınan yeni toplumsal hareketlerin geleneksel toplumsal hareketlerden farklılıkları belirtilmiş ve bu olgunun farklı örneklerinden yola çıkılarak yeni iletişim teknolojileriyle ilişkisi irdelenmiştir.
