Abstract
In this study, it is aimed to examine the studies that the pictures drawn by children between the ages of 3- 9 between 1986 and 2016 are analyzed in terms of developmental and psychological (projective) phenomenology. Analyzing the studies related to children’s drawings and determination within the frame of certain criteria of how they are handled in the literature will contribute to seeing the big picture on this point. Within this scope, following the research done with the keywords “drawing, drawing a picture, children’s drawings” on the Higher Education Institution International Thesis Center and Dergipark Ulakbim Database, 75 researches were reached. Within the framework of determined criteria, a total of 53 studies (35 postgraduate dissertations and 18 articles) were examined using the epistemological document analysis methodology. As a result of the research, it was seen that the studies interpreting the drawings of the children between the ages of 3 and 9 increased significantly after 2006; that the research samples ranged from 10 to 2400; that the children were mostly given in different forms the instruction “draw a human”; that the children mostly involved in this research were the ones with parents living separately or with parents who are about to divorce; and that the data collection tools most commonly used by the researchers were “interview, family/children information form”, “questionnaire” along with the tools developed for drawing interpretation.
