Abstract
Education plays a major role in societies' development level. This situation, clearly seen when the education level of developed countries compared with the education level of other countries. The most important reason for this difference is that in attitudes towards scientific research of individuals constituting society and efforts in this field. Scientific research activities are very little in the societies which individuals haven’t scientific attitude, so individual’s wants to solve their problems with unscientific ways. This situation will increase their problems and they will depend on the advanced societies. It is possible to see plenty of examples in the world. In this regard, it should instill a scientific approach to all community members and in this way it should create the necessary basis for scientific studies. For this purpose, training activities should be organized to gain scientific attitude at early age children. It is true that the works done in this context in our country. However, to know where we are in the process gaining scientific attitude is very important in terms of making plans for the future. In this study, scientific attitude of sixth grade students is investigated that significant difference between following sub-dimensions; gender of students, education level of mother and father, income level. The research sample is consist of total 400 students, 195 girls and 205 boys, in the central district of Samsun Province in the spring semester 2013-2014 academic year. To determine level of scientific attitude of students are used “Scientific Attitude Scale” developed Moore and Foy (1997), adapted to Turkish by Demirbaş and Yağbasan (2006). The research data investigated according to sub-dimensions and has been used the t test and one way anova. In result of the research, there is not significant difference in sub-dimension of scale according to gender of students. But, according to the other variables in the same sub-dimensions of scale, there is significant difference. According to the research findings, if family income is increases, it rises child’s scientific attitude levels. Here have been some suggestions according to research results such as activities improving scientific attitudes of students and dissemination of research to other education levels.
