THE RELATION BETWEEN CORE SELF EVALUATION AND SELF REGULATION IN STUDENTS WHO STUDY VOCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOLS

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the relation between core self evaluation and self-regulation in vocational and technical high school students. Vocational and technical secondary education high schools are the institutions which aim to place the manpower appropriate for the national and international vocation required in the areas of job, service and health, updating the craft knowledge and skills and preparing the ones who have the vocational education. ln formal vocational and technical secondary high school programs, it is aimed to gain a common general knowledge to students at a secondary education level, preparing the students to both job and higher education or life and and job areas in the direction of their talents, desires and concerns. With this program, also it is aimed to learn the students a foreign language at a level of being able to pursuit scientific and technological developments. The study group is composed of 192 students keeps on studying in the Ostim vocational and technical highschool in the 1st term of 2015-2016 school year which is located in Ankara..In the study, as a means of data collection tool, core-self evaluation scale and self-regulation scale was used.In an attempt to testing the relation between self-regulation skills and core-self evaluation evaluations in vocational and technical high shcool students, Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient is calculated because both variable is at a level of equal interval scale and providing the normality assumption. A reasonable relation is found between the self-regulation and core-self evaluation of vocational and technical highschool students.(r=0.263, p<0.05).
